Miss Universe Takes it Off For Paint

The Miss Universe Pageant gets racier every year, and the media certainly doesn’t let the organization get away with it. From rehab prone contestants to controversial statements; you never know what’ll happen next. This time around the media is all a buzz about the latest Universe contestants photos. The organization is getting negative feedback and accusations that the photo’s are more playboy-esque than anything else. The pageant will air live on August 23rd from Las Vegas.

Check out the photos on the official Miss Universe website, and let us know what you think. Artistic or not?

September 2010 Covers

Could it be, that the youth-obsessed era is coming to an end? Not exactly, but the September issues this year are being dominated by over 40 actresses. Julia Roberts is on the cover of ELLE, Jennifer Lopez is covering GLAMOUR, and Jennifer Aniston is on Harper’s Bazaar. It’s great to have these iconic ladies representing true stardom. They have real staying power, style and role models for women everywhere.

Here are the other lucky stars who snagged a September cover:

Kim Kardashian dishes on laser hair removal, playboy, and her infamous sex tape.

Halle Berry discusses how motherhood changed her life.

Mouth Full of Gold

First she rocked the Blue Pout, not she’s showing off her Gold tooth. Serious, what will Ke$ha do next? I’m all about gold, but not in my mouth. It’s something Flava Flav would be proud off. This style hopefully will not return. What will she do next?

Pretty Soon Lip Gloss

SunLove recently sent me a great new lip gloss. It’s from Pretty Soon and the color is Bella Rosa. The gloss goes on smooth, isn’t sticky yet stays put for quite a while. This color is the perfect transition from summer to fall. It’s in between fuchsia and red; making it the perfect rosey finish. I’d say this gloss is high quality. Word is there’s also a nude shade, which I’ve yet to try.

***I’m currently getting more information on the lip gloss. I’ll let you guys know soon where you can find it and for how much***

Body Paint is Art?

Simple Hair Styling

We’re always seeing commercials for new products that offer something too good to be true. The Goody’s Simple Style Spin Pin ($6.49) is one of them. It look like a bobby pin twisted into a swirl effect. The box brings two of them and it’s supposed to be all you need to hold your hair in place; Instead of the 40 bobby pins or scrunchie you’d normally use. It wasn’t until I tried it that I realized it really did work the way it says it will. Simply gather your hair and twist it into a bun. Then twist one or both of the pins on opposite sides. Wah-lah you have a bun without the million and one pins holding it together.

The pins come in different colors like Brunette, Dark Blond, and Dark Hair. And best of all, there are no dents in your hair afterwards from using a hair tie.

The Beauty of Tinted Moisturizer

A little color goes a long way. Having a golden complexion or simply getting a little color can always be achieved with the help of bronzer and tinted body lotions. Being a fan of 2-in-one products, it comes to no surprise that a tinted moisturizer would be one of them. They’re great at evening out skin tones and providing natural looking coverage. AVEENO’s Positively Radiant Tinted Moisturizer ($15) is a good choice. It protects against UVA/UVB with an SPF of 30. Positively Radiant is oil-free and hyper allergenic. It’s beneficial for all skin types, sensitive enough to use everyday, and not overbearingly shiny.

AVEENO’S has shown me great results and proved to work just how it says it will. The packaging is perfect to throw in your purse and comes with a top that lock by twisting; preventing it from opening up on its own. The color goes on sheer and the light smell isn’t overpowering at all. Tinted moisturizer can take the place foundation. Most, if not all, of your imperfections get hidden discretely with the tint.

If you’re looking for a moisturizer with more coverage try Hourglass Illusion ($55). It’s liquid based like a foundation making it great for drier skin. With more shades to choose from, you’re able to get one closest to your skin tone. The Hourglass formula is oil-free and has an SPF 15.

While you’re on the site mak sure to take a look at the Barbie collection.

Emma Watson’s Short Do

Harry Potter star, Emma Watson revealed her newest look. The dramatically shorter cut looks great on her. It’s sort of Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby. Here’s what she had to say about it,

“Dear all. Cut my hair off a few days ago… Feels incredible. I love it. I’ve wanted to do this for years and years; it’s the most liberating thing ever. Hope you like. Big love from Emma x”

I can only imagine how liberating it really does feel, but I won’t be cutting off my long locks any time soon. Don’t think I’d pull it off as well as Emma. What do you guys think of her new look?

Ann Taylor Over-Photoshops Model

The women’s clothing line Ann Taylor has been in hot water these past couple of days. Everyone is speaking about their negative portrayal of women on their website. In the past they’ve been called out for photo shopping models, and even so they thought they could still pull a fast one on us. On their website you can see normal pictures of the models. Yet once you click on it to get a close look, the model’s waist smooths out dramatically.

As if the model wasn’t skinny enough already. Who is Ann Taylor trying to sell to? Maybe they should take a note from Marc Jacobs and stores like Saks who are embracing women’s figures.
